Camel are a brand of tobacco  cigarettes made by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, a U.S. based company.  Camels were first created in 1913. Known for their unique blend of Turkish and Virginia tobacco. In 2008 the proprietary blend was changed as was the design, marketing and packaging.

When Camel cigarettes were originally blended, they were intended to have a much milder taste in comparison to other U.S. brands.  Many smokers consider the unfiltered variety the most robust while Camel Lights to be a mellow, softer palette.

Joe Camel was the marketing strategy implemented by RJ Reynolds in the 1990's but was discontinued in 1997 due to a controversial lawsuit that claim RJR was using it to market to children.
